Assesment

Psychological assessment is a process of testing that uses a combination of techniques to help arrive at some hypotheses about a person/child and their behavior, personality and capabilities. Psychological assessment is also referred to as psychological testing, or performing a psychological battery on a person. Psychological testing is nearly always performed by a licensed psychologist, or a psychology trainee (such as an intern). Psychologists are the only profession that is expertly trained to perform and interpret psychological tests.

As part of psychological services, DECP conducts following psychological assessments, particularly for the children.

  • WISC-IV (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children)
  • BSID (Bayley Scales of Infant Development)
  • DDST (Denver Development Screening Test)
  • Portage Early Education Programme
  • DEST-2 (Dyslexia Early Screening Test–Second Edition)

Individual Counselling

As human being we face challenges every now and then. Most of the cases we can manage our issues pretty well; unfortunately sometimes we cannot. We feel stuck and we feel like we need help. This help may come from our friends, family and relatives. But in some cases, help is needed from a trained professional. Counseling is a process that can help people identify more effective strategies both to cope with difficult situations and to achieve their goals. While some people who seek counseling have chronic emotional difficulties, most are dealing with normal life events and are simply in need of an objective listener – someone who doesn’t judge and who can help them see new alternatives.

Individual counseling provides that opportunity to everyone. Basically it is an authentic relationship between the person and the counselor.
